SELKIRK
Selkirk Bird Watchers' Club
More than any other kind of wildlife, birds have an almost magical hold on the human imagination. They are beautiful, vibrantly alive and everywhere to be seen. Selkirk has a Bird Watchers Club. The club meets on the First Wednesday of each month, October to April at 7:00 p.m. in the Gordon Howard Senior Centre at 384 Eveline Street. Activities include guest speakers, field trips, the Annual Xmas Bird Count, and jointly with the City of Selkirk maintaining the Community Trail in Selkirk Park. These nature trails in Selkirk Park were developed by the Selkirk Bird Watchers' Club. The four trails are named after some of the birds which can be seen there, such as Chickadee, Blue Jay, Red Wing (blackbird) and Mallard. A few other birds to be seen in the park are Pileated Woodpecker, White Breasted Nuthatch, Yellow Warbler, and American robin. Come Join the Club and enjoy one of the fastest growing leisure time activities in North America.

Marine Museum of Manitoba
Marine Museum of Manitoba hosts six historic ships that sit at the entrance of Selkirk Park, including the S.S. Keenora, Manitoba's oldest steamship. In addition to an authentic Lake Winnipeg lighthouse, the ships contain marine artifacts and pictures. School and group tours are offered. Admission charged. Partially wheelchair accessible. Location: corner of Queen Avenue and Eveline Street. Hours of Operation: May long weekend to September long weekend. Monday-Friday 9-5pm Weekends & Holidays 10-6pm

Selkirk Community Arts Centre
Selkirk Community Arts Centre features local artists and includes a gift shop with local artists, potters, painters, carvers, glass works and metal arts. The gallery is located in a designated heritage building - the old town post office. Open February-December, Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. Location: 101-250 Manitoba Avenue.

Selkirk Park
Located on the banks of the historic Red River, Selkirk Park offers excellent facilities for summer and winter recreation. The park includes serviced campgrounds, boat launching pads, picnic areas and an outdoor swimming pool. The park is also home to a bird sanctuary with an observation deck. Location: corner of Eveline and Queen at the north end of Eveline Street in Selkirk.

Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre
A joint project of Ducks Unlimited Canada and the province of Manitoba, Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre is twice named "Manitoba's Best Outdoor Attraction" and features marshland wildlife displays, a full schedule of interpretive programs, guided canoe excursions, a 120-seat multi-media theater, meeting rooms, café and gift shop. It is located at the western edge of Oak Hammock Marsh, one of the best bird viewing areas in North America. Accessible by boardwalks and more than 30 kilometres of dike trails, the marsh is a 36 square-kilometer rehabilitated remnant of the historic St. Andrew's Bog that once covered 470 square kilometres of southern Manitoba's Interlake. It is home to 300 species of birds, 25 species of mammals and numerous species of insects, amphibians, reptiles and other wildlife. Open year-round.
